POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Coordinator of Student Engagement & Development is responsible for the development, coordination, and management of student engagement initiatives, leadership programs, and campus-wide events for the Community College of Aurora. This position will work closely with the Director of Student Leadership & Development to develop comprehensive systems and processes, create meaningful co-curricular experiences that enhance student development, support retention and success, and promote CCA's institutional outcomes. Using data informed strategies, The Project Coordinator of Student Engagement & Development will implement and refine student programming, leadership development, and service initiatives while also overseeing the student led organizations (SLOs) process.
OVERVIEW OF CCA
The Community College of Aurora serves our diverse community by providing high-quality instruction and support services to prepare students for transfer and employment. More than 20 different languages and 60 countries are represented at CCA. In addition to traditional degree and certificate programs, CCA offers non-credit professional development courses, customized training, and economic and workforce development resources to employer partners and individual professionals seeking to enhance the capacity and productivity of their workforce or individual knowledge and skills. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Coordination & Programming
- Oversee and implement campus-wide student engagement programming that aligns with institutional mission, vision, institutional outcomes and values , including but not limited to:
- FoxLEADS, a student leadership development cohort.
- Day of Service, a large-scale community service initiative.
- Signature campus events promoting student involvement, civic engagement, and belonging.
- Develop, coordinate, and assess student leadership initiatives to promote skill-building and community involvement.
- Serve as the primary advisor for Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), providing mentorship, leadership development, and event coordination support.
- Manage the creation and distribution of the Fox Times student newsletter to ensure timely and relevant communication with the student body.
- Oversee student-led organizations (SLOs) process, serving as the primary point of contact, ensuring compliance with institutional policies, and providing resources and training for student leaders.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase the number of SLOs, expand student participation within existing organizations, and support sustainability efforts, including fostering traditions and leadership succession planning.
- Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with faculty, staff, and community organizations to develop and support engagement opportunities for students.
- Support department marketing needs, including flyer creation, coordination with the Office of Strategic Communications, and managing department website updates.
- Serve on campus committees or relevant external groups as assigned or approved by Director of Student Leadership & Development.
- Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with CCA administrators, faculty, instructors, and staff to create intentional and cross-disciplinary programming that is CCA mission focused.
- Complete any additional department tasks as assigned by the Director of Student Leadership & Development.
- Oversee the onboarding, training, and supervision of Student Engagement Ambassadors, ensuring they are equipped to support programming and student leadership initiatives
- Serve on division-wide committees related to student employee training.
- Develop systems for tracking and assessing student engagement, program impact, and participation trends.
- Manage fiscal processes, budget tracking, compliance, and procurement for student engagement and leadership initiatives.
- Assist in identifying grant opportunities and supporting grant-related initiatives that align with student engagement and leadership development effort
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, communications, education, social work, or behavioral sciences.
- Commitment to equity and student success, with experience supporting underrepresented communities, including students of color, first-generation students, veterans, and individuals with varying abilities.
- Student-centered approach with knowledge of student development theories and an asset-based mindset to foster engagement, leadership, and retention.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively articulate goals, build relationships, and motivate teams.
- Proven ability to manage multiple initiatives and solve problems, demonstrating critical thinking, adaptability, and strategic decision-making.
- Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, business, communications, education, social work, social or behavioral science, or related fields.
- Experience working with students in a community college setting.
- Experience with supervision in a higher education setting.
- Experience with budget management
- Bilingual preferred
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Salary Range: Anticipated starting salary range is $70,500.00 annually. This salary is determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. CCA offers an excellent benefit plan, including generous leave, holiday, and education benefits. Full time employees immediately upon hire earn 15 hours a month annual leave and 10 hours a month sick leave.
