The Facilities & Operations Department of the Long Beach Community College District is seeking highly qualified individuals for a current opportunity as a Project Manager, Capital Planning and Construction! This individual will be leading and responsible for capital planning and bond oversight, developing and implementing short- and long-range plans and strategies to meet the District's goals and standards of construction to provide an optimum physical environment for staff, students and the community. Duties are carried out independently, within a framework of policies, management guidelines, laws/codes, state space requirements and design principles.
We are looking for someone who has obtained a Bachelor's degree in Building Construction, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Architecture and five (5) years of experience in project management within construction; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

AT-A-GLANCE POSITION INFORMATION
  • Type of position: Full time (40 hours/week)
  • Position Status: Permanent
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday
  • Location: Liberal Arts Campus (LAC), but will support both campuses
  • Salary: Range 9, $106,779.00 - $145,487.00 Annually
  • Eligibility list: Will be valid for 6 months once approved or ratified by the Personnel Commission. We reserve the right to use the established eligibility list for vacancies (permanent and temporary) in this classification as well as related classifications.
  • Advanced salary placement: Generally, new employees start at the first step on the salary schedule. Advanced salary placement may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Duties


GENERAL PURPOSEUnder general direction, plans, manages and coordinates capital planning and construction programs for the District; provides District management with advice and counsel on architectural/engineering design and construction projects; and performs related duties as assigned. The Manager, Capital Planning & Construction ensures that District plans, designs and construction of all capital projects are functional, sustainable, well designed, and cost effective.

Qualifications


Education, Training and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Building Construction, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Architecture and five (5) years of experience in project management within construction; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements: A valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's vehicle insurance policy.
Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements, and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed.
